Pre-Florida YearsJen went to Dickinson College, the same school I attended. She didn't really like the college any more than I did. She is originally from New Jersey and still prefers the weather back home. For graduate school, Jen is planning to go to the Princeton University to study genetics. In other words, I'm moving north in a few years. Jen had a ridiculously high GPA and was involved with a couple of organizations around campus, such as Phi Beta Kappa and the Campus Activities Board. She was also a Beckman Scholar for her research of scalloped expression during Drosophila embryogenisis. Her parents live a few minutes outside of Philadelphia and have three pets: Two golden retreivers (Brenna and Zeus) and a cat named Autumn that snores. Jen also has an older brother named Mike, but he's not a pet. I'm very fond of her parents and we get along well, just as Jen does with mine. We dated throughout her time at Dickinson College, despite the distance. |

And TodayJen now manages a cancer research lab here in Florida. She is trying to determine whether she wants to stay in research, or perhaps enter public policy. She ran a half-marathon last year with Team in Training in honor of her grandfather. She the full marathon in memory of him this year. Oh yeah, and she still doesn't like living in Florida very much. We were married in March and just bought our first house together. We're so excited to have our own place. I'm looking forward to being able to do yardwork again — we'll see how long that lasts — and she's looking forward to gardening. Most importantly we're looking forward to Clancy being able to have his own yard to run around in. Of the two houses he has lived in, neither of them have had that and they've both been rentals so we couldn't do anything about it. Jen loves photography and is considering a change in careers to take on wedding photography. |
